Student Internship Program
The main objective of this program is to provide students with hands-on industry experience, exposure to emerging technologies, and direct mentorship from industry professionals. By undergoing internships, students develop practical skills, understand the psychology of workers, build team spirit, learn time management, and upgrade their CVs for final recruitments.
Internship Duration
One B.Tech student has to undergo full-time internship training of **one month** during summer vacation at the end of the 1st year, 2nd year, and 3rd year. Alternatively, part-time training of equivalent hours may be permitted during the semester (subject to conditions).
Academic Credits
All internships are credit-bearing academic requirements. The structure, evaluation scheme, and total credits are aligned as per the guidelines of the affiliating university, **Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT)**.
Internship Pathways
- IIT/NIT Centers of Excellence: Training at premium laboratory setups or collaborative centers at national-level institutes.
- Innovation & Hackathons: Competing in state/national innovation contests, smart hackathons, or design challenges.
- Startups & Incubators: Working in early-stage startups on new product development, coding, or business model formulation.
- Industrial Live Projects: Engagement with core industries, Government organizations, PSUs, NGOs, or MSMEs.
Key Technical Tracks (For CSE & MCA)
Internship Process Workflow
- Counseling: Students receive guidance from the T&P Head and their respective departments to select a suitable track.
- Application Submission: Each candidate requests slots by submitting the official Student Internship Application Form via the Department Coordinator.
- Slot Allocation: The T&P cell coordinates with the target industry, PSU, or NGO to secure slot approval prior to the training start date.
- Reporting: Students submit their weekly progress reports to their Branch Faculty Coordinator, who reports to the T&P Head.
Note: Summer internships generally start from the 3rd week of May for 3rd-year B.Tech students.
